Watering question.

So I have found a general rhythm that works for me. But when it comes to watering it hard to know without seeing it in person because the word "dry" is subjective.

So when the general rule is to water when the top inch is dry, how do I know how dry the soil needs to be?

Should the top inch get bone dry or have a slight bit of moisture?

Any tips

Advice on trimming very large sage

So I have this very large sage plant at our house. Attempting to help my MIL and then I stopped because I didn't wanna mess anything up.

Wanting to keep it and let it live its best life, just need to stop the outward growth.

Should I trim the branches I don't like at the base of the plant or cut mid way up.
