Guidance on Plex Server startup crashing
Hey! I've recently been battling with my ~7 year old frankenstien desktop that has been modified over that period of time. After several crashes mid-interviews, I spent a day wiping and reinstalling Windows on it and have been having trouble getting back to where I was previously with my plex media server.
Full disclosure, I used to be more technically literate, but I've definitely grown stale over the years and really would cross my fingers and let out a sigh of relief when things just "worked" vs having to go in and troubleshoot. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert.
Issue - Following reinstall of plex media server on my new windows, it will not launch. I can run the app and see it pop up very briefly in task manager before crashing. It has yet to make it to my system tray. Plex Update Service appears to be running in the background.
What I've done -
- Followed the full uninstall steps outlined here with no success upon clean reinstallation
- Dug through multiple reddit/forum posts for other solutions and tried a reinstall after deleting anything i could find with Plex related in my system files
- Removed my machine from my devices in the plex web browser
- Wiped all of my storage HDD/SSD's that previously had held my media libraries
- Found the crash reports for plex, looked in the log and see the crash, however I do not know how to approach solving these
I attached a log here. I'm still seeing "fishy" things on windows (a critical failure crash today, strange issues when trying to use windows explorer where it just keeps closing), so i'm almost at the point where i'm accepting I may have some hardware failures and need to consider a new PC.
If anyone has any recommendations or insight to help troubleshoot, I would be forever grateful.
***Update*** - Adding Hardware details as well. No change from my previous stable plex setup, before i did a fresh windows install.
- Mobo - Z390-A PRO
- Processor - Intel i9-9900KF
- Memory - 32 GB
- GPU - 3060 Ti
- Storage -
- System/C (install location of Plex Media Server)- 500GB SSD
- Storage 1 - 1TB SSD
- Storage 2 (Primary Plex library's historical location) - 2 TB HDD
***Final Update*** - I was an idiot and never updated my Nvidia drivers. Restarted following and plex media server launched immediately
