Bridging strategies for panel upgrade?

I intend to slowly convert our home over to smart switches, but it could be a long, gradual transition.

We have a mix of electrical boxes. Most have neutral line, some don’t. I think I’m committed to standardizing on Lutron Caseta since they have some good dimmer/fan options for no-neutral.

However.. we’ve got a lot of 2, 3, 4 gang plates, and they’re all the old-style “toggle” plates, not decorator dimensions.

What do y’all do when upgrading only one switch in a multi-gang plate? I’d prefer not to leave the old flip-lever style switches (and the gaps they’d expose.)

Should I.. get a big box of decorator-style rocker switches (not smart, just dumb on/off type?) and replace with those as I go? (Then come back and switch in smart ones as time/budget allows.)

Or, is there some kind of adapter or shim I can get that’ll just cover the gap for however long it takes to upgrade?

Just curious how others have handled it. TIA!
