I am trying to start a native garden in my backyard, is there any point when this is right over the fence?

I am trying to start a native garden in my backyard, is there any point when this is right over the fence?

I am asking for a bit of advice on how to prepare my garden plot for my native plants. My backyard has a little corner I want to turn into a native plant garden. Today I cleared most of it out but there were a lot of invasive plants (To Southern Ontario: Garlic Mustard, Buckthorn, false strawberry, and a pesky rose bush) and they are definitely coming from my neighbours who have let their backyard go. I tried to pull as many things as I could and get the roots but I had to trim two Manitoba Maples because I couldn't get them out.

Is it viable to turn my little plot into a native plant paradise or will the invasives from my neighbours win the fight? What is the play here? Any advice welcome I am still a little new at gardening.

Edit: Added picture of what the fence is attempting to hold back, and wording.
