20 Hours in CLT - First time in the USA (16 y/o)
Hey everyone, hope you're doing well.
I'm flying from London this Wednesday 7th and have the option for either a 14-hour night layover (landing at 7pm) or a 20-hour daytime layover (landing at 1 PM).
I'd love to take the longer daytime option to check out a baseball game at Truist Field (any sport really I’m a huge soccer fan) or grab some real Carolina BBQ (any foods in the area that are good), but since I'm a minor (16) traveling alone, I can't legally check into a hotel for the night. My plan would be to explore during the afternoon/evening and then just wait it out at the airport overnight for my morning flight.
It’ll be my first time in the USA apart from staying in airports like Miami, so I’m really excited to experience as much as I can in 20 hours.
Is Uptown generally pretty safe for a teenager on foot for an afternoon? Would love any recommendations or advice on whether I should choose the daytime “exploration” option or just stick to the airport. Thank you!
