Unclear situation
Hi folks. I’m in the middle of some kind of flare and just wanting to share. Feb 6/2025 I’d had an endoscopy done. They found level 2 GERD prescribed 40 mg of omeprazole(I’ve never felt any better on it ) The next day I had a pain in my calf and three days later I was diagnosed with a dvt. Immediately I started eliquis. For the last 3 months the only meds I took were the eliquis , omeprazole, occasional tylenol and celexa. Over the last three months I would get random red spots , sometimes welts , itch sometimes but not all the time. They were in wrists , legs by knee , neck some on face; Even on my rear once. I thought maybe it was due to stress; it was random not right after eating or taking meds. I also spent a night in the hospital after being rear ended during this time. I never had any “panic attack “ through any of this.
On may 2/3 I didn’t take my omeprazole but during the evening of 5/3 I took the eliquis and then with in an hour took Tylenol. About 15 min after taking the Tylenol I noticed the red Welty spots on my neck and shoulder area. With in 10 minutes after looking in the mirror my heart rate started climbing and then this burst of adrenaline shot down my lower half of my body. It even made my bladder feel wacky and hot. My neck was hot. My stomach felt tight and I was a bit nauseas. My heart rate would go up and down. Then I really got panicky and ended up calling an ambulance because I got paranoid that i was going to have some anaphylactic reaction. It would get worse if I talked or moved. The emts told me my bp 166/100 pulse 90 and stable but high from everything going on. I decided to take Benadryl and stay home. Even after the Benadryl I went through waves of stomach feeling like it shocked me with adrenaline and the heart rate would go up. It cycled about 5 times after Benadryl and then I fell asleep.
The next day I took just Eliquis am and pm. Sure enough it happened again that night. That time I took Benadryl. It cycled again. I was a mess. Ithe next day I confirmed via doppler that my dvt was gone so I’ve stopped the eliquis . It’s been a week and a half. My stomach acid went nuts after stopping the omeprazole. I’ve since gotten Pepcid and sulcarafate.
This morning I’m out ; ate a veggie omelet with wheat toast. 30 min later I was in line at a community garage sale and someone was around that must have been vaping or smoking pot. The smell was really strong. After the 3-5 min in the line I turned to my boyfriend to comment on the smell and bam here comes that adrenaline rush from my stomach. It was like someone turned a switch. I got anxious. I tried to talk to my bf but it would make me nauseous. No rash or welts in the usual spots. My bladder became overactive. My heart rate didn’t go too high ) I cycled this way about 3 times over a 45 min period I did not take any Benedryl this time. It did calm on its own but now I am more confused.
My doc says she isn’t convinced either way that it is allergies /panic. She wants to calm my stomach first. I have allergist appt in June. And an echo schedule in August. I convinced myself that the meds had to be causing this reaction but I’m on totally different ones now. I’m so disappointed because I thought I would feel so much better once this dvt healed and I would not need the blood thinner and now I feel almost worse than I did before the endoscopy.
I do have an anxiety panic history but my old panic attacks weren’t like this with nausea and stomach issues. Because they didn’t habe the stomach feature I then panic about this being an allergic reaction. Argh.
