What animal is the art for Volcano Looming High supposed to be based on?

I always thought it looked like a demonic horse, but my friends were shocked when I said that and they think it looks more like a panther.

The nose and mane just make me think horse.

What's the strategy for beating England 6 in solo mode?

I mostly play solo on the mobile app because my wife isn't as obsessed with the game as I am. Typically I play without adversaries and win easily, but occasionally I'll add a level 1 or 2 adversary for some added difficulty. I still win almost every time.

Recently I decided I wanted more of a challenge, so I want to try beating each adversary at level 6. Another post in this sub suggested either Mud or Keeper for beating England, so I went with Keeper and things IMMEDIATELY got out of hand. Invaders were multiplying faster than I could destroy them or set up wilds. The island became blighted in 3-4 turns.

What's the strategy here? Do I use a different spirit? Is there a specific growth option/pattern I should be focusing on?

EDIT: Thanks everyone for the advice. I was able to get the win. Mud really is MVP against England. I drew Tsunami and Cast Down Into the Briney Deep, both of which allowed me to overwhelm the invaders on the coast while I kept the inlands in check with minor powers and sacred sites.

I love it when you get the exact power you need just when it feels hopeless

"Focus The Land's Anguish" is normally a power I'd skip. Having enough blight on the board to make it worthwhile feels rare, but I was struggling a bit in this game against Sweden. All the blight was near the coast because I was playing as Keeper and managed to keep the invaders away from the inland, but I couldn't deal with the huge numbers they'd grown to on the coast. Then I drew Focus the Land's Anguish and nuked them all twice in 2 turns to clear the board.

I love this game.

Is the "grand wedding" event hopelessly bugged?

I can't remember the last time I got a grand wedding to actually work. I understand tyou can't begin the grand wedding while the groom is at war, so I avoid promising a grand wedding unless I'm the groom or I have direct control over the groom.

Yesterday I tried planning one for my own ruler after his wife died (under "suspicious" circumstances, but that's neither here nor there). I figured it would be a nice change of pace to play through that event since I haven't had the opportunity in a while. The option to start the grand wedding was disabled. Hovering over the button showed that the reason was because both spouses needed to be adults. My bride was 17 when betrothed, but the button was still disabled for the same reason after she turned 18. My character was in his 50s. Neither my character nor the bride were traveling or at war. I had to break the betrothal and arrange the marriage all over again but without the grand wedding this time, resulting in taking a huge hit on my standing with the bride's family. I got several rivals from that alone.

What difficulty is the most fun to play on?

Obviously fun is subjective, but after playing this game for a few years now, I've found myself falling into similar patterns. Start weak (either as an adventurer or small time count/duke), establish claims, expand my territory, start up a eugenics engine, etc until I have an expansive empire and a dynasty filled with beautiful, genius, herculean children that are all betrothed to their cousins. I'm still having fun with it, but it feels like it's gotten too easy and consistent.

I've never tried a different difficulty setting other than the default. Is it still fun on higher difficulties? How big is the jump from one level to the next? Is there a "sweet spot" where you can still try to do what you want to do, but there is also enough randomness and challenges that keep you on your toes?

I think the devs swapped the masc and femme "panting" sounds after sprinting

I use a masculine avatar and I have a few friends that use feminine avatars. Since the update, I noticed the panting noise my character makes after I run out of stamina from sprinting sounds more feminine. I asked my friends if they noticed anything and they said theirs sounds more masculine.

Is this already known? Obviously with all the bugs from the update, this one is the least of anyone's concerns but it's interesting that they somehow swapped the two.

Do we know what early Roman Christians thought about Rome's complicity (or lack thereof) in the death of Jesus?

I'm interested in Rome's transition from paganism to Christianity. I've always wondered what early Roman Christians thought about the death of Jesus and whether or not Rome held any responsibility for it.
