I’m about to turn 31 and I’m working at a call center. Thinking about going back to college but I’m not sure what to pivot to. Anyone that’s made this move/change have advice?

I’ve been working at this call center at a bank for 3 years now as a chat representative from home and I feel stuck. I don’t hate it but there’s basically no way to grow here unless I want to become a manager which I have zero interest in doing.

I do have an associates degree in IT but never really got into the field. I’m thinking of going back to college now and maybe getting a degree and certs in Networking. I’ve also thought about going into data analytics and then data science or even supply chain/logistics since this is kind of adjacent to my work, but with the job market and AI, I’m feeling less confident going into that field. I’ve also realized how much I dislike working from home and being on a computer all day.

I’ve taken some of those career/strengths test like the holland test and I’ve gotten lots of engineering careers/degrees which seem interesting. I’ve thought about engineering before and the jobs would be more hands on (I think) which I prefer, but I have no idea which engineering degree would be good plus I’ve always struggled with math since I was young and every engineering degree is math heavy.

I’ll also have to do school part time as I can’t stop working full time.

It’s awful being in my 30s and not having a path and I really wanna change that. I want to create a long term plan over the next few years to get a degree and then find a job but I don’t really know what specific jobs I’d be getting into in some of these fields.

Anyone else made a career change/pivot like this and have any advice? Or perhaps someone can suggest a better path or degree to take a look at? Thank you
