Did I make the wrong decision, was it worth the risk?

So some context is that I've been applying to a bunch of places to find a summer co op and ik that its nearing summer but i applied to some smaller companies that start later.

I did my first interview on monday and got the job offer for it the same day. But the thing is this job doesn't relate as much to my degree, its a more business job where i am in engineering (and the salary isn't that great). They wanted to hear back by tuesday afternoon so there wasn't much time so initially i thought that i should just accept it. However, i had another interview later the same day (monday) for a tech company that is more relevant to engineering and has double the rate.

I had a second interview after the initial screen booked for morning of tuesday when the job deadline was due. I think it overall went pretty well but at the same time it is a much more competitive job (300+ applicants). I was also the first person he had interviewed because i told them about my other offer so they let me interview ASAP. I asked for feedback during the interview to gauge the chances i had with this company and he said he enjoyed speaking to me and liked the interview.

Later that afternoon i made the decision to turn down the job i was offered. Did i make a mistake or do you think the risk was worth it. Summer is also about to begin and many people have already started interning so I'm just scared it's too late to find something else if this job doesn't go my way.

please give me any advice or what you would've done in my scenario!!
