Some observations from a different public library
The other guy's post seemed a bit negative so just putting this out there are a counter point:
- Heaps of books and people looking for books or reading books. It's where I go every week or two to pick up/return books.
- Large spaces dedicated to like 3D printing and sowing machines? Seems weird but it's always full.
- Teenagers hanging out and studying but most pretty under control. There are separated noisy and quiet zones which works pretty well.
- Plenty of homeless people, most just sleeping but the smell is sometimes awful.
- Always activities going on that have nothing to do with books but seem nice, lego club, chess tournament etc.
- Lots of baby and pre-school activities, story times etc.
- Half the librarians are blue haired transgender 22 year olds and the other half are like normie older ladies. Almost to a person the librarians are extremely helpful and keen to search for whatever you're looking for or give you their review of the book.
Out of everything my city taxes go towards the library has to be one of the best uses (right after like waste disposal). It benefits me directly and provides an immense public good.
