I am here to bring you the second and final candidate profile before the mod releases which will be extremely soon.

Yes, my writing help guy was correct, all of the major writing is done and the Dewey side is fully coded as of right now. You can absolutely expect the mod this month, and probably within the next 2 weeks.

NAME: Paul Vories McNutt

b 7/19/1891

HOME STATE: Indiana

Paul McNutt is certainly one of the more interesting cases in Democratic Party governance. Always a lifelong Democrat, McNutt took interest in politics from his father, a practicing lawyer during his youth. He attended the University of Indiana, where he became extremely close with future Republican nominee Wendell Wilkie before getting his law degree from Harvard.

His time teaching law after his return from service in the First World War eventually led to him becoming Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party, where he fiercely opposed the nomination of Franklin D. Roosevelt. He made a lifelong rival in Roosevelt, who always viewed him as a pain.

That same year, he was elected Governor of Indiana, where his tenure was effective if controversial, riddled with rumors and scandals of corruption during his time in office.

McNutt has seemingly turned a new leaf since his days in the Governor's Mansion, becoming an esteemed foreign diplomat in the Philippines and a loyal supporter of Franklin Roosevelt.

Now, he runs for the party nomination in 1948, among a field of progressives that could sink his effort at any turn.

As you can see, you will start in the convention, attempting to win as a dark horse candidate among the intra-party debates between the progressives and the southerners. You will be able to fail in your efforts, or succeed.

Now, for the running mates, as you can see, one of four is Burnet Maybank, the canon choice in this mod, a great mix of southern influence and northern pragmatism

Just realized half of them are labeled "Democrat" not "Democratic" will fix later.

This side will be slightly less expansive than the Dewey side, and will have no CYOA, whereas the Dewey side will have a little bit of it.

Hello everyone.

As you can see with the title, 1992: The White Whale is now live on CTS.

I am very excited to bring this mod to you all, it has been a joy writing it and creating it for all of you to play. If you have criticisms, levy them either in the comments section, your own post, or in my PMs, I'll be happy to evaluate what a lot of you guys say about it. After all, art without criticism is meaningless.

Oh, you thought I was joking when I said I was making a mod? Well, I wasn't.

Enough progress in the coding has been made to where I am comfortable with announcing this mod.

1992: The White Whale is a mod about Ross Perot, but also, more importantly, Jack Gargan. His story is one that has not been told enough, and that is why I found it to be crucial to include him and his journey in the mod.

In The White Whale, you will begin in the beautiful year of 1990, and find yourself having to make tough decisions pertaining to Gargan's political movement Throw the Hypocritical Rascals Out! In an attempt to convince Ross Perot to run for president. Success is not guaranteed, and the man from Dallas is a hard man to convince.

If you succeed in convincing Ross Perot, you (now playing as Perot himself) are faced with several obstacles you will need to overcome in order to become the first independent president since George Washington.

In a world of corrupt politicians, backroom deals, and the perpetual half-specter that is Ronald Reagan's conservatism entrenched across the country , Ross Perot is both the answer, and the question. You will have to balance your persona with keeping your statements in line, after all, falling off the deep end and dropping out would surely be a death sentence for any presidential campaign. Failure is easy, one wrong move could send you into an unavoidable tailspin.

But Ross Perot seems ready for the challenge, so long as he can strictly do things his way. But as he comes to realize, in politics, there is truly no such thing as winging it.

In America's final stand against the corrupt duopoly, Ross Perot and Jack Gargan, America's Captain Ahab, will have to win against George Bush and Bill Clinton. That way, they can finally be complete, and America can finally prosper the way it was always meant to.

Perot will have eight total running mates, five of which are circumstantial through gameplay.

There will be at least 20 achievements for the mod, that is one of the only parts of the mod not finalized.

You will be able to drop out or stay in the race, both of which offer a different path you can take as Ross Perot. The mod will be mostly bryanesque, though a couple CYOA things are sprinkled in.

I am incredibly proud of what I have done here, and I am excited to bring this mod to you all

Hey everyone, sorry for not reviewing some of the past couple mods that have come out, was waiting for the next super big release

And it looks like we've gotten it from modding oldhead Yupperdoo, who has come out with his first mod in a long time.

I really hate to say it, I really wanted to love this mod, but I just can't, and there's plenty of reasons why.

But first, here's what I liked about it:

I liked the little descriptions in the visiting page of each state. It gives a little more color to an otherwise overlooked part of the TCT experience.

I also liked the variety of candidates and being able to code all those DNC mechanics is no small feat, and I think that was pretty good as well.

Now, what I don't like.

Usually I start with writing, but I have to let people know that the portraits in this mod are very clearly AI, upscaled at best and mostly generated at worst. I think this is a dangerous precedent to set when we make mods, and I really condemn the use of AI in any sort in a mod.

The writing is extremely boring. It was a beefed-up bryanesque writing style which isn't inherently a bad thing but it made the writing so devoid of life it should be buried six feet under the ground during the DNC portion of the mod. The writing with candidates is a bit better but still not very top-notch.

The coding is lackluster. Not bad or anything, but it really lacked any nice finish that I see on most other big mods that come out, and it just didn't really do anything for me. Also all the issues had the same issue value not sure what that was about.

Also, it's hard to actually play the mod. It's still not on CTS as of writing this, which I think makes it harder for folks to access the mod in general. And not only that, the DNC operations are vague and it is hard for people to actually manage their play through because of it. I'm sure guides will come out in the future but people shouldn't have to wait for guides to fully understand the mechanics of the mod.

Endings are the worst aspect. It uses much of the same tropes from More Than Ever (for my money the worst endings for a TCT mod) the mod even rips endings directly from More Than Ever, such as the HST Nixon essay he wrote after his death. Why couldn't the writers be a bit more creative?

I wasn't a fan of this. If you are, that's great, but I wasn't sadly.

As a person making their own competing Perot '92 mod, I was glad that this mod feels way different than the mod I'm trying to make.

This community has had a very weird lack of portrayals of Ross Perot, and the ones that do usually portray him as some crazy conspiracy theorist.

But in my opinion, these takes are overblown, and I think the team did a great job of portraying Ross Perot

Yes, he's a weird guy, I'm not going to deny that, and he did have some weird theories about things, but it felt like a breath of fresh air to be able to play and enjoy a Ross Perot mod without all of the tropes used for him in the past. It's a competent portrayal of him that does not seem like a fanboy mod or a hater mod, it's a happy medium, which I typically like in portrayals of people.

What we have here is a very competently made mod with decent specs. It isn't going to blow you away with really anything that it has in store but its a solid mod that has some decent replay ability given the fact that its hard to win as Ross Perot.

However, there are some inaccuracies

When Perot mentions Jack Gargan in question 2, I gotta be 100% honest Perot would never ever credit Jack Gargan with anything. After reading Jack Gargan's memoirs it seems like he hated Perot almost as soon as he started campaigning for president (mostly because he wasn't credited at all and I think Perot didn't pay him back 25K for holding a rally) its extremely minor but I thought I'd point that out.

Also, I think the mod teeters a little too much into the hokey Texas Drawl that Perot dons. It's a problem I have with some mods especially with 2008 Sundance (which was egregiously hokey in parts). Its good to use it in moderation but it dominates the writing style which takes away a bit of the seriousness in my opinion

Overall, this mod is pretty good, I'd recommend it for any Perot fan and its an honest portrayal of Ross Perot the man

Hi everyone

This mod is made by StrawberryMaster, and I can't stress this enough. This right here, is their best work.

The biggest gripe I usually have with StrawberryMaster's mods is this: Their coding is fantastic, but their writing is always a bit lackluster, and as a person who values writing most in these silly little games, its a turn-off for me and doesn't keep me coming back.

They totally flipped the script here and the writing is fantastic, some of the best I've ever seen. Quite honestly, as someone who grew up watching a lot of Charlie Brown, it was fun catching references from various films that featured those characters. The endings are also fantastic, I just absolutely love them. They are so personal, and are in the same realm of quality as Things That Never Were. I couldn't believe how much coding has been put into this project too (I mean, county maps?! You spoil us, StrawberryMaster). I hope these features get added to more mods, if every mod had a touch of StrawberryMaster's coding we wouldn't have a single mod below a 4/10 believe me.

But what really gets me most is the fact that the actual election still looms in the background but you barely notice its there. This mod is about a high school student council election, and in 2000, which was a simpler time than today, politics didn't matter as much to people. There was no September 11th to weep over, there was no protest against any major wars. There was not as much vitriolic hatred between factions (of course, there still was, but it was mostly pre social media so it wasn't as widespread). The end of the game is, in my opinion, symbolizing that era slipping away as the national election becomes extremely contested, foreshadowing events to come in the future regarding our situation today, its solemn and a bit depressing, but I find it brilliant as I did with Things That Never Were. It's a really powerful message that sometimes politics doesn't matter and that there are other things to waste your time and energy on, like friends and family, its almost like the mod is telling you to get off of this game. It's a very bizarre premise for a mod (I myself was skeptical when I saw it announced) but it's one that I think is amazing and that this is probably the greatest bryanesque mod ever. It's oddly foreboding, with American century coming to a close, and is also a very interesting fun mod to read.

I like redrawing the states too don't show it to Trump or he'll do it for real

My one criticism: It sucks knowing that Charlie Brown is going to be financially screwed over in his mid 20s. Thanks SM.

Hi again everyone

This mod was made by the great Martha and Astro, who need no introduction, and I think their recent endeavor DUKE really blends both of their styles together well.

I feel like this mod would have been grossly mishandled in most other people's hands. Micheal Dukakis is, shockingly, not an extremely deep individual like some people portrayed in mods are. He's a decent, self-made politician, and a mod about his hypothetical term should treat him as such, and it does. While I think that this mod could have been better, I think Astro and Martha are the best people possible to have made this mod. Martha has made mods about Dukakis before, and it certainly shows. The writing will not knock your socks off, but going back to my point earlier, I don't really think it needs to be. Plus, it combines Astro's writing with a touch of Martha's comedic writing such as what you see in her old as the hills 1984 mod. It's like if you mixed 2025-era coding with 2023-era writing, and for some reason, it really works. Also, the interface is one of the best on the site right now, love that old Macintosh look. That economy variable is cool too.

However, the mod does not really have that replay-ability factor that some other mods of its size have, unless you really want the achievements for it. That's just mostly due to the fact that I don't think it was ever intended to be nearly as replay-able as the bigger mods. It doesn't need to be, but it hurts the mod's overall quality a bit. Would have liked to see some Ross Perot in this mod too, but that's a relatively minor criticism.

This mod is absolutely a solid addition to TCT, and I would recommend it for anyone who wants a taste of the older mods while still having the toys that are included in the newer mods.

Before you see my rating, I want to get out of the way what goes into how I rate these

If the mod is a 1-2/10, it is bad, and I wouldn't recommend it to any sane individual

If the mod is a 3-4/10, it has some redeeming qualities, but isn't really that good overall.

If the mod is a 5/10, it's average. Some of it is good, some of it is not really great. Just a mod that's there.

If the mod is 5.1-6/10 it's a decent mod that's good in more ways that it's not good.

If a mod is a 6-7/10, I would consider this mod to be "good" it has highlights, and most likely has something that truly sets it apart from the rest of the pack, Whether its solid writing, good and interesting endings, or even some coding wizardry.

If a mod is a 7-8, it's about as good as you can make a mod without drastically changing the game. Very good, likely has some really good integration of features and endings, and just generally has a great deal of quality.

If a mod is 8-9/10, it has something new and interesting to say, or it has a really cool feature, or improves on an existing feature. It's good all around, and in some places, amazing. Maybe it has a great secret route, maybe it has some other stuff, it's all around great and likely one of the best mods in recent memory.

If a mod is a 9 or above, its one of the best mods of all time

If it's a 10/10? That doesn't exist.... yet.
