How can I make sure kittens are properly socialized with a full time job?
Hello! Hopefully you can help me or be able to provide some advice. I recently took in a Pregnant cat and she had her babies on April 20th. Right now kittens are 4weeks old and I just want to make sure I properly socialize the kittens before they go to their new homes.
To give some context,
I have momma and her kittens in my room. I work Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm, I usually don’t get home until 6:15-6:30pm. During that time, my grandma will go in my room and check up on them and make sure momma has plenty of food and water. My grandma tries to go in as much as possible to see them but doesn’t always have time to spend time/interact with the kitties. When I am home, I try to pet and play and hold them as much as they let me or until I see the Mom getting upset and calling for them.
The kitties let me pick them up but after a minute or two will start trying to squirm away from me.
This is all new to me as I’ve only ever had dogs growing up.
Is there any tips on how to properly socialize these kittens?
What’s the best age for them to go to new homes?
Will being gone and not interacting for so long affect the kitties in any way?
