I am driving myself crazy
I am trying to find this book that I read when I was in middle school I think roughly 12 to 14 years of age which would’ve been roughly and 2010 to 2012. I found this book online. It was on a Kindle/iPad and it was a book that I remember in great detail, but I cannot remember the names of any of the characters.
I do not remember the exact genre but it was spooky
The book itself was from the point of view of a teenage boy, whose mother and him were in a car accident. She disappeared, and he swore up and down a shadow took her. He is forced to live with his uncle and his family, which, due to some reasoning, he has been forced to work for his neighbor across the street in a black Victorian style Home with a maze of plants that should not be growing in this temperature or in this climate in her backyard. She has a cat. The cat is an angel that is in cat form because they cannot physically touch without him being a cat that’s their punishment and I’m fairly certain the cats name is Gabriel that is the only name I remember I think . Anywhooooo they end up traveling to hell where his mother is and getting her back. I cannot remember the name of this book help me.
