Nesting Box Camera Suggestions
I apologise if this is the wrong place to post this, I'm still figuring out how reddit works.
I work at a public primary school (Victoria, Australia), and we have been setting up nesting boxes from LaTrobe Wildlife Sanctuary, (ringtail possum and microbat boxes)
I would like to set up a trail cam to film one of the nesting boxes, internal or external, what ever is best.
Specifically I want to be able to set it up to create a live feed, so you could click a link or something on the school website and watch what's happening in the nesting boxes.
I know like 23.59 hours of this footage will be nothing. Is there a way to do this that also only shows you any footage if something is actually happening, or saves the footage so you can watch time lapses for a 6-12 month period online through a computer?
I want to put it up pretty high and angled on or in the nesting box only, so needs to have a solar panel situation so I don't have to keep climbing a ladder to charge it, change batteries or switch SD cards.
From what I've researched so far it needs to be connected via WIFI, water resistent, motion capture, night vision and not emmiting any kind of noise or light that would disturb animals. It will be on school grounds so within 30 metres of the router or what ever the hell, the internet box.
Does anyone have any reccomendations for a camera that would meet these needs? it doesn't need to be incredibly crystal clear quality, it's really just for 10 year olds and a really enthusiastic staff member (me) to be able to see if anything happens with our nesting boxes.
I am not tech savy, talk to me like I'm also 10, please.
