I’ve been working on a small AI image project over the past few weeks and I’m at that point where I’m trying to decide if it’s something worth turning into a proper indie business or if it’s just one of those ideas that feels interesting while you’re building it but doesn’t really hold up long term.

The tool itself can transform images in different ways, and technically it works. The part I’m struggling with is everything around it. I can’t clearly tell who the ideal user is or what would make someone come back consistently instead of just trying it once out of curiosity.

That’s what’s making it hard to commit fully. It feels like there could be something there, but at the same time it also feels like it might fall into that category of tools people check out once and forget about.

Curious how others here approach this stage. How do you decide if something has real business potential versus just being an interesting project you should move on from?

Would appreciate honest thoughts, even if it’s just pointing out what I might be missing.

I’ve been working on a small AI image tool recently and I’m at that stage where I’m trying to decide if this is something worth shaping into a proper micro-SaaS or if it’s just an interesting side project.

From a technical point of view, it works and produces some pretty interesting results. The problem is more on the business side. I’m struggling to clearly define who the consistent user would be and what would make them come back instead of just trying it once out of curiosity.

It also feels like tools in this space get attention quickly, but I’m not sure how often that actually converts into something sustainable. I keep going back and forth between thinking there’s an opportunity here and thinking it might be one of those ideas that looks better than it performs.

I’d really like to hear how people here evaluate something like this before going all in. What signals do you personally look for to decide if a micro-SaaS idea has real potential versus just short-term interest?

I’ve been working on a small AI-based image tool over the past few weeks, and I’m at a point where I’m struggling to decide if this is something worth turning into a real micro-SaaS or if it’s just one of those projects that’s technically interesting but not commercially viable.

The core idea is simple: it processes and transforms images using AI, but what surprised me is how inconsistent user expectations are. Some people see it as a creative tool, others immediately question the use cases or where it could go long term.

That’s kind of where I’m stuck. From a builder’s perspective, it feels like there’s something here, but from a business perspective, I can’t tell if it’s strong enough to stand on its own or if it would struggle with trust, positioning, and long-term retention.

I also keep thinking about whether tools like this naturally hit a ceiling because of how people perceive them, regardless of how good the tech gets.

Would you consider something like this a viable micro-SaaS, or does it sound like one of those ideas that gets attention but doesn’t convert into a real business?

Curious how you’d evaluate something like this before investing more time into it.

Hey,

I’ve been working on a small web app and I’m trying to get a few people to try it and tell me what they honestly think.

It’s still early, so I’m mostly trying to figure out what makes sense, what doesn’t, and what feels confusing when someone actually uses it.

If anyone here is open to trying it out, you can check it here:

No pressure at all even short feedback like this didn’t work or this part is unclear would really help.

Appreciate anyone who takes a look.
