Is my Platinum Collection a bootleg?
I did some (slight) research before buying it a month ago but feel quite ignorant. It’s a sealed copy of the Platinum Collection thin pack and I got it for around $200 plus tax after making an offer on its initial $300 plus tax. The seller seemed very reputable with over 11k items sold, 100% positive feedback with 4k+ positive reviews, and an account created in 2002. (From the time of typing this, I’ve asked where he got it from but have yet to receive a response). Their whole premise is also selling vintage and used things so I don’t think they’re particularly at fault, but who knows.
Nonetheless, I still believe it’s a bootleg as there’s a tiny circular hole on Rei’s hair which may be a heat-vent hole that was either done from the manufacturer or the bootlegger. What I’ve also noticed is a bit of blue above Rei’s forearm, but without any white lining as I’ve seen other Bootlegs do. It is pretty shiny and Rei herself seems really outlined (but that could just be normal or I’m looking at it wrong). The shrink wrap is snug but I’m not sure whether it should be on top of the box or not. The dvd slipcovers are also really uneven but I thought it was just a factory error or something. Either way, if anyone has any ideas or could help, that would be great. I can always add more information.
On a side note, I put my collection in at the end. I have both sub and dub of the vhs tapes as well as the Platinum Tin with the original Funimation inserts and postcard which is pretty cool.
