Does the specific field of your PhD study matter for interviews? I'm pursuing a PhD in logic

I am currently studying a very non-applied field of math, model theory, for my PhD. Been considering quant roles for a while, but I have the understanding that most firms prefer applicants with a more applied math background / those who did work more adjacent to stats/ML/PDE. I go to a target/Ivy, but still curious whether my specific field of study is actually a problem to get an interview. And, although my undergrad coursework was still very applied (tons of grad PDE/stats), did fairly decent on the Putnam as well, and published in a very applied domain of math. But my current field of study is far from being relevant to any quant work. Is this a problem?
