Do I have a realistic chance at history PhD applications?
Hi all
I've created an account solely to ask this question. As I am sure you're all painfully aware, the funding crisis has made applications even more fierce. I'd really like you kind folks to be honest with me. Do I have a real shot at this? I will be applying in the upcoming cycle. I have a BA in history (3.87), am currently finishing my MA in history from a t10 (dependent on how the quarter ends, 3.9 at the worst, 3.97 at the best), experience in all necessary languages (Latin [classical and medieval], German, French), a couple conference presentations, fantastic feedback on my MA thesis (hopefully lending itself to strong letters), and a very niche research direction which aligns well with a handful of faculty at t20-30 schools. I feel like I've accomplished a lot in this process, but it is easy to also feel that you've never done enough. I spend too much time thinking about the possibilities, and I suppose now that I should just see what people with experience in this situation actually think. Thank you reddit warriors.
