Suggestions on fixing this and how to make it look good?

Not blaming anyone by any means as they work for me nor am I saying it’s even “wrong” however I can’t determine on how to make this look appropriate or “good” I guess because in my eyes it won’t. My guy trimmed out a window using Schluter and the grout line didn’t line up perfectly with the window, so his thoughts were to run the Schluter up and slightly back as shown to match the grout line and then he wanted to run a bead of color matched silicon below it to cover the face of the tile. To me it’ll never look good and looking for some input here!

What’s your secret to determining the best tile layout?

Contractor by trade that does a very small handful of tile jobs per year and still have a long ways to go, so outside of being paid to do it I wouldn’t call myself a tile professional by any means, but I’m curious on how one decides what layout they want. Generally I just want everything to look as symmetrical as possible and it usually works out, but choosing between staggered or straight lines or whatever. How do you actually make that decision?
