Is this fixable?😧

I removed all the old cracked picture rails and I want them gone. Is the gap still fixable, and how? I have Gyprock JointMaster and paper drywall tape.

And also, I want to remove the corner strip and make them square using an inside corner plaster trim. Is that possible with what I have?
