Did organized language exist before like societies and settlements and stuff?

Like back when every "human" was nomadic and like there were no villages or anything, did language exist? Like if it was just people and their families traveling around with no towns or anything, did like every family have their own language? If language didn't exist, how did people traveling together communicate with each other?

Is this a cool idea for a campaign or should I scrap/modify it?

So I had an idea for a campaign that takes place at the VERY dawn of civilization, like the PCs are nomadic Stone Age cro-magnons (or the dnd equivalent) who stumble upon and join the first ever community in the world, where it starts out with no magic, just slightly modified versions of the martial classes, and then a little bit into the campaign, as part of this civilization the PCs as well as maybe the tribe leader discover magic for the first time and maybe this could all culminate with them becoming the first gods. And then after that campaign ends I could do another one which takes place a few centuries later with the world being a bit more technologically advanced and maybe I could do a whole series of campaigns fleshing out this world and with each one it becomes gradually more magically prominent and technologically advanced. Does that sound like an interesting campaign premise or should I change it up a bit?
