Building I’m moving into seems to be now owned by Alpha Management
My friend and I signed a lease for a building in Allston that was owned by Mount Vernon Company. Fit everything: our budget, utilities included, location, you name it. Signed our lease in March and knew Mt Vernon was one of the better management companies in the city.
Come to find out today I get an email to set up a housing portal from Alpha Management, which im well aware of its reputation through this sub. Given it’s a building the previously was well maintained, but now under ownership that seemingly will let buildings rot, I’m worried about what living in this apartment is going to be like. Red flag #1 is owing our last months rent deposit in the portal due TODAY even though we already paid our deposit when signing our lease two months ago.
Any advice for dealing with them and what do do in this situation with a building changing ownership before the lease starts?
