Trying to Recreate Software-less PnP Usage from ATEM Mini Extreme but on the G2

Hello! So for context, I am an absolute novice at the ATEM Software Control application and have been banging my head against it for the past few days. I work with event production for a university, and up until recently we would run livestreams through an ATEM Mini Extreme (that was programmed before I came onto the team). We relied heavily on the built-in Picture in Picture buttons that were physically on the switcher as we often had presentations being shown by outside clients running through the stream, and we needed to be able to move the smaller image to the different corners of the larger image at the touch of a button in order to move out of the way of important information.

We recently acquired the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO G2 since our previous model had started losing signal on one of the output ports, and also since the G2 has XLR inputs for running sound which works tremendously better for our setup. Unfortunately the G2 no longer has preset picture-in-picture buttons, but I'm looking to recreate that type of workflow either by programming macros or something else. But any attempt I've made to try and create macros that place picture-in-picture in the different corners using DVE on the upstream keys has ran into issues. If I try and activate the macros one after the other, they sort of get tangled up and stuck, and don't behave how I would expect them to.

Does anyone know of a way to recreate the type of workflow that allows me to cycle one source to different corners of the screen overlaid ontop of a different source via picture-in-picture, WITHOUT having to have ATEM Software Control open during livestreams? It's an absolute must that I set this up to be controlled without the use of the software, as we intend students to be working the switcher using a similar workflow as they did with the previous switcher.

As an example, is it possible to set up a macro key that cycles the same fill source between all four corners of the Program by repeatedly pressing that same button? Or anything similar to that?

I just want to know if this is possible, and am unsure where else to look as I've already watched through multiple videos about the ATEM Software and the G2 and have not found any clear explanation on how to accomplish what I'm looking for.

I know it's a lot of text to read through, but I greatly appreciate anyone who has any ideas. Thank you!
