Feedback on a Web Extension to Help Cut Down on Screentime

Hey everyone,

I started noticing a pattern for myself while trying to focus on work and I got sick of the same old cycle: open a tab “just for a minute,” suddenly it’s 2 hours later and I have no idea where the time went. I found that most people burn over 3 hours a day on sites that don’t actually help them toward their goals. I wanted to fix that for myself, so I built a web extension called LOKT.

It’s a Chrome extension (loktapp) that runs quietly in the background and turns your browser into an honest scoreboard. No guilt-tripping pop-ups, no fake “you got this!” motivational spam — just raw numbers so you can actually do something about it.

Here’s what it gives you right in your personal dashboard:

- Daily Dopamine Score (0–100): One number that tells you how “clean” your day was based on time wasted, late-night scrolls, and how many different distraction sites you hit.
- Clean Streaks: Real streaks of days where you browsed your selected sites under the personal threshold you set.
- Hard Site Blocking: Pick any domain (YouTube, Reddit, X, whatever) and it’s blocked. No 5-minute timers, no “just one more video” loopholes. When it’s blocked, it’s blocked.
- Accountability Buddy: Invite a friend, partner, or coach. They get pinged when you hit your limit and have to approve any unblock. Zero trust in yourself = maximum results.

Everything is 100% private. Your data never leaves your machine unencrypted — AES-256-GCM end-to-end, so theres zero trackers and zero selling your history.

The landing page at loktapp.com is intentionally minimal because the real product is the extension + your dashboard. Install it, sign in once, and you’ll instantly see sample your data: today’s usage, weekly totals, top domains, and a clean little chart that makes the invisible waste visible.

This is still very early — the core is rock solid and live, but I’m iterating fast based on real user feedback. I’m not here to sell you anything (theres a free period before payment is required). I just want people who notice the same scrolling trap and to try it and tell me what’s missing, what’s broken, or what would make it 10× better.

- Install it in 10 seconds → [loktapp.com](Chrome Store)
- After you try it for a day or two, come back and comment:
  → What’s your biggest time-suck site?
→ Did the Dopamine Score or streaks actually help change your behavior?
→ What feature do you wish it had?

→ Did you notice any bugs?

Even if you just upvote so more people who need this see it, I’d appreciate it. If it helps you reclaim even 30 minutes a day, that’s a win for both of us.

I am also in the process of building and IOS app to accompany the web tracking to get a better picture across devices to spot bad habits. If you have any suggestions for an IOS app, please feel free to comment to tell me what features you think would help you.

Thanks for reading — can’t wait to hear what you think!
(Dev here, indie builder, no VC fluff, just a tool I needed myself.)
