Hi, I’m about to start my training and keep hearing about bottlenecks after CCT for consultant level jobs. In the hospital where I work I see very few trainees in emergency medicine but a significant number of trust grade doctors who climb up the promotion ladder fairly quickly and are working towards getting their CCT via CESR pathway. The system seems quite unfair and uncontrolled because as far as I know there are no caps on how many doctors can pursue the CESR route. I’m worried EM consultant posts will be very saturated by the time I qualify due to this issue.
