[URGENT] Ethan is fighting, but the medical bills are hitting a wall. We need your support.

Saturday Night Update:

We were hoping for some donations to come through throughout the day, but unfortunately, we are still at ₱200 raised out of our ₱6,650 goal.

Because we are still ₱6,450 short, I have no choice but to contact the clinic tomorrow to postpone Ethan's critical checkup and treatment. We simply do not have the funds to walk through the door.

Ethan is currently stable and resting right next to me, so a short delay is safe for him, but we desperately need to close this gap so I can reschedule him for early this week. If you can spare any amount at all to help us get him to the clinic, it would mean the world to us.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and kept us visible.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ethan has been fighting for his life with everything he has, and your support has given him a true fighting chance. However, we have reached a pivotal moment in his treatment. This coming Sunday, July 5, is his scheduled second Babesia parasite injection. This procedure is the direct path to his recovery, and the checkup and tests this weekend will determine if he can move forward or if he will require further treatment before his final follow-up on July 12.

I am so grateful for the help we have already received, but as we enter this next phase, I find myself needing support again to bridge the gap for these specific medical costs. Asking for help again is never easy, but we are still in the middle of this fight and have reached a point where I need your support one more time to keep Ethan’s treatment going. The costs are mounting, and I am still actively searching for work. I want to be as transparent as possible regarding his medical history. When I was budgeting for his care, I accounted for the cost of the Babesia injection and other necessary medications. However, because the atropine injection was an unexpected cost, my veterinarian generously covered the cost of the Babesia injection so I could afford the additional medicine and the atropine. To ensure he stays on this path, here is the complete breakdown for this milestone:

  • Follow-up Consultation: ₱200
  • Biochemistry Panel: ₱2,900
  • CBC: ₱1,000
  • Babesia Treatment: ₱750
  • Atropine: ₱600
  • Anti-tick and flea prevention (3-month Bravecto): ₱1,500
  • Total Target: ₱6,950
  • Donations Received: ₱300
  • Remaining Balance Needed: ₱6,650

If you can spare anything to help us cover these remaining medical costs, it would mean the world to us. I have attached his latest payment records to show exactly where every cent has gone so far. I am doing everything I can to manage his treatment, but we are running out of time. Even if you cannot donate, please share his story. Spreading the word is just as vital to Ethan’s recovery. Thank you for being Ethan’s shield.

Ethan’s 2nd Babesia injection is this July 5. We are at the most critical turning point of his recovery.

Hi everyone,

Ethan has fought through his treatment with everything he has, and I am so grateful to share that he is doing much better. He is back to his playful self, actively chasing the kittens and finishing around 300g of wet food a day. He is fighting for his life, and your support is giving him that chance.

However, we have reached the most pivotal moment of his treatment. This coming Sunday, July 5, is his scheduled second Babesia parasite injection. This procedure is the direct path to his recovery, and the checkup and tests this weekend will determine if he can move forward or if he will require further treatment before his final follow-up on July 12 to see if he is finally cured.

I owe you an apology regarding my previous post. I miscalculated the total needed for this visit by not fully itemizing the upcoming medical expenses, including his preventive care. To ensure he stays on this path, here is the complete breakdown for this milestone:

  • Follow-up Consultation: ₱200
  • Biochemistry Panel: ₱2,900
  • CBC: ₱1,000
  • Babesia Treatment: ₱750
  • Atropine: ₱600
  • Anti-tick and flea prevention (3-month Bravecto): ₱1,500
  • Total Target: ₱6,950
  • Donation since last post: ₱300
    • A massive thank you to the kind soul who already sent this donation—it’s a huge help.
  • Remaining Balance Needed: ₱6,650

I am still actively searching for work, and I need your help to cross this final stretch.

Update on Ethan’s Recovery Journey: June 28th Progress

I am deeply grateful to the community for being in Ethan’s corner. Your support has been a true lifeline, and I wanted to share an update on his progress following our follow-up checkup today, June 28th.

A Look Back at Our Progress

A total of ₱8,356 was raised in our previous round. Thanks to your generosity, we successfully covered Ethan’s veterinary checkups on June 21st and June 28th, which totaled ₱6,800. In addition to these medical visits, your support provided Ethan with all his essential supplies, including his wet dog food, madre de cacao shampoo, a water fountain, a pillow, a dog bowl, and other necessary care items.

We are also working steadily toward clearing the ₱4,430 balance from his initial confinement. While the funds raised so far have been dedicated to keeping his immediate, ongoing treatment consistent, we are managing that remaining debt as we move forward.

Our Current Situation

As I have been between jobs for the past couple of months, I have been relying on this fundraising and the help of extended family to keep Ethan’s treatment consistent. Your ongoing kindness makes it possible for me to prioritize his health during this difficult time.

The Path Forward (July 5th Visit)

We are taking this one day at a time. Our next milestone is on July 5th, which will include a follow-up consultation, a necessary biochemistry panel, and the administration of essential tick and flea prevention.

To ensure we are fully covered for these upcoming services, our target is to raise ₱5,600.00.

How You Can Help

If you are able to assist in any way, your support is deeply appreciated:

  • GCash: Roseanne Melendres | 0945 298 2520
  • GoTyme Bank: Jose Marie C. Melendres | 0135 1594 4080
  • Paypal: paypal.me/JMelendres76

(The QR code for easier contribution is included as the first image of this post.)

Previous medical receipts, prescriptions, and full lab results are posted on my profile for total transparency. Thank you for being Ethan’s shield.

[URGENT] Less than a week until Ethan's critical liver checkup. We are still at ₱0 raised and I am terrified.

Hi everyone,

Ethan is fighting hard through his 18-day liver rescue regimen (and giving me a massive wrestling match over his daily Livotine doses!). He is stable, but his crucial follow-up appointment is this coming Sunday, June 21, and I haven't been able to raise a single peso toward it yet.

To be completely transparent about my situation, I lost my job a couple of months ago. Securing a new role has been incredibly difficult, especially right now because Ethan requires round-the-clock monitoring and strict medication schedules. I am actively searching for a work-from-home job so I can earn an income while giving him the close care he needs, but until I land something, I am completely stuck and running out of time.

If his blood panels don't clear his liver this Sunday, we cannot safely start his core Babesia parasite injections. Our current Phase 2 target is ₱8,355.26 (which covers his upcoming CBC, full biochemistry panel, and clearing the remaining initial emergency clinic debt).

If you can spare even a small amount to help me get him to the vet this Sunday, it would quite literally save his life.

  • GCash Account Name: Roseanne Melendres
  • GCash Account Number: 0945 298 2520 (QR Code is the main image of this post)

Update: (as of 5 AM June 16, 2026)

  • Phase 2 Target: ₱8,355.26
  • Current Raised: ₱5,595.17
  • Remaining Balance: ₱2,760.09

[UPDATE] Ethan’s Vet Visit Results, Receipts, & Moving Into Phase 2 (Liver Recovery)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to give the community a couple of days to breathe after the frantic weekend, but I am back with a comprehensive update on Ethan’s Sunday vet visit. First and foremost, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Because of your incredible generosity, his initial emergency care and Sunday's full lab panels were covered.

I’m posting today to share his official results, outline the next steps the vet has laid out, and show total transparency with the receipts.

The Good News from the Labs: Ethan's Complete Blood Count (CBC) brought some amazing news. His platelets have bounced back incredibly well and are elevated at 599 (normal range is 200–500). This means his body is aggressively fighting back and producing platelets to repair the damage from the blood parasites! His kidney functions are also completely normal and healthy.

The Hurdles: The battle has definitely taken a toll on his body. The lab work shows he still has mild anemia, and his liver enzymes (ALT at 276.5 and ALP at 745.7) are significantly elevated from processing the heavy infection.

Because his liver is working overtime, the vet delivered a vital update: We cannot start his heavy Babesia injections yet. The parasite medication is incredibly tough on the liver, so rushing it right now would be dangerous.

Our Phase 2 Plan & Financial Breakdown: Sunday's final clinic bill came out to ₱4,600.00. This included his ₱1,000 CBC, his ₱2,900 Comprehensive Biochemistry Panel, the ₱200 consultation, and a ₱500 bottle of Liver on Pet supplement that the vet dispensed to start his liver rescue immediately. Thanks to the extra cushion raised overnight, the minor difference from my original ₱4,250 estimate was covered perfectly.

The vet has placed Ethan on a strict 18-day home care regimen focused entirely on liver rescue and stabilization. Fortunately, we have enough Doxycycline and Hemapet on hand to get through this stretch. Phase 2 is now about letting his liver heal, clearing the remaining initial emergency debt, and preparing for the mandatory clearance tests that will greenlight his parasite injections.

Here is the exact financial breakdown as we look toward June 21:

  • Remaining Debt from Initial Emergency Bill: ₱4,430.00 (The initial crisis total was ₱16,430, and I have managed to pay off ₱12,000 so far).
  • Mandatory Follow-Up Vet Visit (Scheduled for June 21): ₱4,100.00 (Includes a repeat CBC at ₱1,000, a Comprehensive Biochemistry Panel at ₱2,900, and the ₱200 consultation fee to confirm his liver has normalized so he can safely begin the injections).
  • Upcoming Home Care Meds: ₱250.00 (To purchase a new bottle of Livotine once his current one runs empty during this 18-day regimen).

Total Goal for Phase 2: ₱8,780.00

Current Fund Cushion (Leftover from Sunday's bill): ₱454.74

Remaining Amount Needed for Phase 2: ₱8,325.26

(Note: Once the June 21st blood panel confirms his liver is healthy, we will immediately schedule his actual Babesia treatment, which will be ₱1,500 total—consisting of 2 shots at ₱750 each, spread 2 weeks apart. After those are clear, we will move to Phase 3 long-term preventatives like his 1-year heartworm vaccine).

I have attached his official prescription, the comprehensive lab results, and the Sunday clinic receipt for complete transparency. Please help us cross this Phase 2 hill so Ethan can safely start his core treatments. Any assistance via GCash or GoTyme would be appreciated.

If you would like to help us reach our Phase 2 goal, you can send donations here:

  • GCash Account Name: Roseanne Melendres
  • GCash Account Number: 0945 298 2520 (QR Code attached in the photos)
  • GoTyme Bank Account Name: Jose Marie C. Melendres
  • GoTyme Account Number: 0135 1594 4080

Thank you all for being Ethan's shield. We are taking this one day and one milestone at a time.

First, the good news: Ethan is finally home and actually up on his feet! I’ve attached a photo of him smiling at home today. Seeing him fight this hard after his severe blood parasite infection gives me so much hope.

However, his recovery completely depends on what happens next. Here is a transparent breakdown of where we stand financially and what we urgently need to cover for him:

[UPDATE] Ethan is finally home from the hospital + bill and June 7 follow-up breakdown

Hey guys, quick update. Ethan is finally home with me.

Seeing him walk back inside, sniff around the floor, and just lean against my leg has been a massive relief. His discharge labs from this morning actually showed some really good news: his platelets went from a dangerous 159 to 416 (normal is 200-500). The vet said his body is now actively producing platelets in large numbers, so the parasite's hold is broken. He still has some mild anemia and his immune system is working overtime to clear out the rest of the infection, but he's stable, alert, barking for attention, and eating well.

You can check my previous post for context on his emergency confinement at Greenwoods Pet Hospital.

We managed to get past the emergency phase, and I was able to pay off the total balance at the clinic today so I could bring him home. However, to do that, I had to borrow a credit card to clear the bill. The financial stress is still hitting me just as hard because I need to pay that back as soon as possible, especially with his next follow-up check-up coming up next week.

Here is the exact breakdown of where the costs actually stand right now:

Current Bill Situation

  • Total Hospital Bill: ₱16,430
  • Total Raised So Far: ₱12,000 (from creditors/loans, not the previous post)
  • Remaining Balance to Pay Back: ₱4,430

Upcoming Follow-Up Costs (June 7)

We have to go back next Sunday, June 7, for an essential follow-up check-up to run blood tests and make sure his numbers are still climbing.

  • Consultation: ₱350
  • CBC Test: ₱1,000
  • Biochemistry: ₱2,900
  • June 7 Subtotal: ₱4,250

Total Known Balance Needed: ₱8,680 (₱4,430 leftover balance + ₱4,250 upcoming tests)

Pending Medication (To Be Scheduled June 7)

There's one more treatment we have to do. When we go back on June 7, we'll schedule Ethan for a specific Babesia medication injection. It's a 14-day shot to make sure the blood parasites are completely gone. I don’t know the exact cost of this injection yet, but it’s a necessary step. I’ll update everyone on that cost as soon as the vet gives me the price next week.

The emergency part is over, but the financial side is still a huge weight. If anyone can spare even a small amount—₱50, ₱100, or whatever you can manage—to help us cover this remaining ₱8,680 target, it would make a massive difference for us right now. If you can’t donate, please consider upvoting or leaving a comment just to help with visibility.

Seeking advice and urgent support for my 8-year-old Shih Tzu Ethan confined with a triple blood parasite infection (Pasig/Cainta)

Hi everyone,

I am writing this out of immense love for my boy, Ethan, a Shih Tzu who is currently hospitalized and fighting blood parasites, severe anemia, and a corneal ulcer.

He had a very rough, terrifying night, but today I received a glimmer of hope: he is fighting hard, responsive, and finally ate some of his recovery food. The clinic is doing an amazing job keeping him stable on IV fluids.

Because of the intensity of his treatment, the costs are mounting quickly, and I am struggling to cover the full balance of his ongoing care. I am doing everything I can, but I desperately need a little help to get him through this weekend and ensure he can stay in the clinic for as long as the vet deems necessary to fully recover.

To be completely transparent about the breakdown of the bills I am facing:

  • Current Running Balance: ₱10,990 (covering his initial intake, tests, and first day of confinement)
  • Daily Confinement Cost: ₱2,000 additional per day (estimated until Tuesday)
  • Medical Meals: ₱240 per meal given during his stay

If you are able to spare even a small amount to help me secure Ethan's treatment, it would mean the absolute world to us. Even if you can't donate, keeping him in your thoughts or sharing this post helps immensely.

I have attached the clinic updates and receipts for verification. I don't have GCash or Maya, but you can send help directly to my digital bank account via InstaPay:

  • Bank: GoTyme Bank
  • Account Name: Jose Marie C. Melendres
  • Account Number: 0135 1594 4080 (Note: Transfers from GoTyme or SeaBank are completely free if you want to avoid the ₱15 InstaPay fee!)

UPDATE (Saturday, May 30): Ethan might come home TOMORROW! 🐾

I just got back from visiting Ethan at Greenwoods Pet Hospital, and he is a completely different dog! He was practically jumping, barking with excitement, and wanted me to carry him. He ate all his clinic food and happily took a few bites of the fresh chicken breast I brought him. The doctor says if his CBC blood test looks good tomorrow morning, he can be DISCHARGED!

We are so close to the finish line. I still need to raise around ₱6,500 to ₱7,000 to completely clear his remaining ICU confinement bill and buy his take-home Babesia medications. If anyone can chip in ₱50, ₱100, or anything at all via GoTyme, you are directly funding his freedom ride back to my room tomorrow while the house is quiet.

(Note: I know InstaPay has a ₱15 fee for small amounts. If you happen to use GoTyme or SeaBank, transfers to GoTyme are completely free! You are also welcome to pool small amounts with a friend to avoid the fee. Every single peso counts for him!)
