Thoughts so far - Subnautica 2
I completely understand it is very very early for 2 thus far, and will likely get notably better over time. The habitat builder mechanics are very solid, crisp, with thorough graphics, and a very good game engine no doubt. It feels like a more polished, refined version of the original first game in many ways. I have had a total blast playing so far, have loved every second of it tbh. But after saying all that, I can’t shake this feeling that so far, the story, the “vibe”, the overall “feeling” of it doesn’t quite stack up to Below Zero just yet. That game was truly magical and life changing for me tbh. The isolated arctic desert feeling, the soundtrack, the mystique of it all, even the initial promo teaser trailers I thought were better. I just feel it had a more defined overall direction and mission in what it was trying to achieve. Time will tell and 2 could very well end up better than it but we will see. This is just a very preliminary opinion here, so please don’t come for me I’m just innocently sharing my thoughts so far that’s all. Think of this post more of like a “early projection” on where I think it is headed, not on where it is right now I want to make that important distinction. Curious to know what others think thus far as well…
