Need Advice: Waterloo Nenotecnology vs Western Mechatronics for my son

Hello students and parents,

My son’s top 5 average was 92.8% and top 6 average was 93%.

We have now received all university offers and rejections. Please guide us on which program and university would be the best choice for him.

U of T – Electrical Engineering ✗ Rejected

McMaster – Mechatronics ✗ Rejected

Waterloo – Nanotechnology ✓ Offered

Western – Mechatronics ✓ Offered

TMU – Mechatronics ✓ Offered

Carleton – Mechatronics ✓ Offered

Queen’s – Mechatronics – Waitlist

Our current preference is Western Mechatronics. However, my son wants to go to Waterloo because of its strong reputation, so we are very confused.

Should we choose Western Mechatronics or Waterloo Nanotechnology? We are concerned because Nanotechnology seems to have lower demand. We are unsure whether good job opportunities will be available after studying Nanotechnology at Waterloo.

Does Nanotechnology have a strong future? Since there seem to be fewer students choosing Nanotechnology, we are worried.

Please give us honest guidance and suggestions on what would be the better choice: Western Mechatronics or Waterloo Nanotechnology?

Thanks for appreciate.
