Assaulted for the 1st Time

Almost through my 2nd year of commuting, and it happened. Minding my business, on my usual route, and someone chucked a water bottle at me.

I was riding just slow enough that the bottle whizzed over my arms instead of hitting me. I only realized what happened after hearing a loud thud and feeling water droplets on my hands. The driver sped away before I could get a look at the license plate, and I just had to... keep going to work.

I wasn't physically hurt, but that was clearly the intention. I will say, I've had essentially zero negative interactions while riding. Sometimes drivers will be reckless to get around me, but I generally get a wide berth and indifference. I've definitely faced more harassment as a pedestrian.

Overall, just extremely disappointing. A plastic water bottle isn't the worst thing to get chucked at you, but I wonder if it had been a rock or something else instead. I won't be scared off, especially with these gas prices, but I think I'll get a bike or body cam.

EDIT: Went ahead and filed a police report. Probably won't go anywhere, but maybe someone else will be helped if this happens to them.
