Excellent Reporting, Weekend in Kerrville; News 4 San Antonio

This is from Friday, but it's beautifully done and covers a lot of the before and after locations, as well as the 60 camps that remain closed due to the new requirements.

Family and Friends Directly Affected by the July 4, 2025 Flood

Life will never be the same for those who lost someone to the flood. The same goes for anyone who was in the water, witnessed the devastation, and was helpless to save those you loved. My heart goes out to all the victims and the people trying to help them overcome the losses of life and mental health from the experiences of that horrific event. July 4th will forever mark the anniversary of death and destruction that's far reaching and deep. We stand with you in remembrance on this day of mourning.

Why hasn't the state Investigated the other 125 DEATHS in the Texas Hill Country between June 13, and July 4, 2025

None of the other families affected by the July 4 Flood or the June 13 Flood in San Antonio, that took 15 cars off the Loop 410 Access road at a stop light, and killed 13 people, have been addressed by the Legislative Investigative committee.

That's 125 people who died in less than a month in the hill country, who have families who are also grieving, who are getting nothing from the community, from the media, from the State because the wealthy families suing Camp Mystic are taking up the time of the Investigators, the Judges, the courts, the media, and for what? They don't need the money.

The Summer Camp Industry is wrecked because of the changes they did manage to get enacted and the few poor kids camps are closed as a result. Summer Camp is for the rich. This whole land grab facade Destroying the Eastland Family, by the rich families who are suing them, is about the rich protecting their own interests and that's all it is.

Let's move on and focus on calling out the reasons the other 125 families deserve their answers and recognition.

EDIT: LET ME TELL YOU HOW I REALLY FEEL.

If the parents suing Camp Mystic were really philanthropic, with all their wealth, why are they still complaining about no official warned them to NOT put their personal cell phone numbers on Facebook? Why still complain about it, as in the meeting last week and in the final report? It's so trivial, but who doesn't know not to do that? Why must that be in a State Investigative Report? Don't post your phone number on Facebook. CHANGE YOUR NUMBER. Why are my tax dollars paying for an investigation that reports minutia like that, while getting bigger things very wrong, like what they did to Mary Liz about Reporting the Deaths?

I'm a grieving parent too and they can stop victimizing, blaming and crying anytime they want to, but all the people fueling their hatred is only prolonging everyone's misery. That's on them. Maybe get some actual help with all that money and not lawyers and followers who parrot what you say.

The State has catered to these families and it needs to end. It's been a year, time to help the other 125 families. The investigative report is only about Camp Mystic. It only serves the rich families and no one else. If they really cared about effecting change, they would do something to help the other families affected by the floods. Not parade about changing Summer Camp, they tried that, it didn't work out so well for the poor kids. Stop pandering to your privileged rich motives and learn about what poor or average people deal with and start there if you want to make changes. Move on! The privilege is showing and it's sickening, ie Gucci Flora dress, Hermes belts, Patek watches.

Furthermore, I am sickened by the treatment of the Eastland family by denying them an ounce of decency or the title they deserve heroes. For everything they did during an unimaginable disaster, while dealing with the loss of Dick, the total loss of their homes, and all possessions and pets.

Some Eastlands barely escaped with their own lives and are also grieving one who died trying to save those babies and no one has stood up for them until now! They had to carry on after being at ground zero of a natural disaster none of us will ever see in our lives. Cooking for everyone, counting kids, calling parents, finding dead bodies. Watching teams pull bodies from the river front.

No one will ever change my mind. The Eastland family is as much a victim as any of the other families in this tragedy.

Right now there are 125 FAMILIES who need and deserve attention and been IGNORED for a year! SOME don't have money to go see therapists and there aren't many options for free mental health care, or help paying bills because they can't move anymore. This is an injustice! Time to move on and help them!

I'll not be commenting due to the downvotes. People commenting it was a mass casualty event of children; it was mass casualty event of people of all ages! But I've included two links below, out of many available. Google It!

Kids and adults die from weather related issues, and that's what happened in the Texas Hill Country. Trying to pin it on the camp is nothing more than scapegoating!

Transcript of Casey Garrett's discussions on Camp Mystic not reporting deaths (then correction) to the Committee on the Flooding of July 2025 - General Investigation

"and then the last thing that just completely defies understanding, is that DSHS has confirmed that as of this week, uh Camp Mystic has still not reported the deaths um of the campers to DSHS, as required by the Texas Administrative Code. Um, yeah and Senator Kohlkorst I can see your reaction and I thought immediately of you. You, you, you pleaded with the Eastlands to do that and um eh I just, it just, it completely defies logic, but I think it's highly relevant to to this proceeding, that you know that the Texas Administrative Code is still not being complied with. Despite, despite them being implored to do that. I have no idea what type of legal, legal or moral strategy that is, but um I have confirmed that that has not been done."

Those are her exact words at the beginning of the meeting.

Later, when this information was corrected, she said.

" that's correct chairman Meyer, thank you for that opportunity. We have received sss, real time information from credible ehh sources ie a representative of Camp Mystic, that Camp Mystic did in fact report the camper deaths the very next day after our public hearing, on April 29, 2026, pursuant to this committee's request to do so. I would like to be so clear about how this came to pass. Uh I believe these committees, you guys all know uh how important the integrity of our information is to Judge Masengale and myself. And we have done, ya know, everything we can, to make sure that we have provided credible information. Therefore I want you to know that on Monday, I contacted Rachel Hendrickson, the Chief of Staff of DSHS and asked if the reporting had been done. She told me she would let me know. She did whatever she needed to do. Talked to whoever she needed to talk to. Contacted me back and said that they had not reported the camper deaths. We went back and forth with some surprise, ya know, about the fact that was the case. I told her I would be reporting to you today and that I needed something from them that was accurate that I could report to you and they provided me, after she discussed, with people in her department, whether, I don't know who those people were; her legal team, her boss, I don't know. DSHS provided me with a statement that they wanted me to relate to you, regarding that those camper deaths had not been reported. This is a statement (holding up paper) provided to me, from DSHS, to provide to you. And eh, it is wrong. And I am really grateful to the Camp Mystic people for making sure that that got corrected immediately. They did report the deaths on April 29. It's, eh, I can't even begin to imagine why the upper echelon of DSHS had not been notified of the April 29th email (holds up email) complying with the reporting requirement. So, I am really glad that they reported the deaths. I am really, knowing what we do know about the Eastlands from our interviews with them, I was surprised that they would've ignored you. And so I'm glad that it has been done and been corrected and frankly I'm, ya know, incredibly frustrated by the poor information that we got from DSHS. So I do want the record to be very clear that we are correcting that information. We want all of our information to be fair and accurate."

That was her response, word for word.

Check out today's meeting with the legislators. After the break, when Casey Garrett admits they got new "real time data" from DHSH!

Two video marks to watch, 25:16 false information reported by Casey Garrett to the Committee, 1:40:14, when the Chair asked her to admit the new information.

EDIT 3. Video of today's session is archived and using the same link.

EDIT 2: I'll update the link to the video as soon as they make the archived copy available, usually 24 hours.

EDIT: The person who created this hateful POST full of lies and LIBEL, saying the deaths weren't reported, just 5 days ago, stirring up the terrible things you all said, it's time to eat Crow. https://www.reddit.com/r/KerrCountyFloods/s/4NGUXhaS0Z
