Making tomatoes last longer in the fridge/freezer

Hello,

looking to get into cooking more and I love tomatoes.

I've tried beefsteak tomatoes and roma tomatoes.

When I get either from the grocery store (hopefully this year I can learn from y'alls tips on growing them myself), should I ever put them in the fridge before using them? That's what I've always done.

Should they be in a crisper drawer? If so, should I be doing something special to the drawer? I notice that my blackberries don't last long when in the fridge which is disappointing and frustrating

If I use part of a tomato and want to save the rest for later, what is the most effective way(s) to do that? I will either wrap in foil or plastic wrap or even a zip loc. Should I suck the air out of the zip loc?

Trying to minimize food waste.

Thanks in advance.
