Anxious on VAX
Hi. New to this group. I joined since I was trying to gather more info or read other people's experience. My kid is fully vaxxed until age 1 (or so I thought ). Life got busy and tbh the health center told me before that my son is already done with Vax when I messaged them. Nothing else.
However in my country, there's been this huge thing about gov officials going house to house injecting kids with MMR Vax. I checked our records, turns out my son never got that.
I've been following Doctors/pediatricians who warn about the dangers of Vax. I also read about real cases of Vax injuries. And no , not the ones who got autism after, but the ones who died.
I also have this friend who has a pedia who advised her to only get the individual measles vax instead of the MMR. That's what I wanted to get my son instead. My friend said her pedia advised to get the measles Vax only if there's an outbreak.
Anyway, I've been really confused what to do. I honestly am not so worried about the autism-vax relation. I worked with kids with autism and as hard as it is, I would rather have a kid with autism than ---you know.
However, what I'm most concerned about is the adverse reaction many kids suffer from this vax. I have looked into cases where kids suffered encephalitis after receiving the shot, others got severe pneumonia and eventually died. THAT'S WHAT IM MOST AFRAID OF .
I talked with my cousin who is a nurse . (Most of my family are healthcare professionals) But of course they are provax. They confirmed that severe adverse reactions do happen. But it's 1 in 10000. But complications from measles can get really bad. So they told me to weigh the pros and cons.
I said I am weighing it. Severe adverse reactions are indeed 1:10000, but how would you know what statistic you'll belong to? Do you fall under the 1 (the Vax injured one) or the rest??? Also, I said so if you're confirming these Vax injuries are real, then there's a chance anyone could get it after vaxx, we just don't know it yet. It is a risk.
They said yes. But catching the measles is also a risk on its own.
Now I'm trying to compare that to the possibility of us getting measles. What if we never get it or get exposed to it ?
I mean the risk of probably getting Vax injured is there once we take the jab. But the risk of us getting measles is unsure.
I'm so conflicted. I only want what's best for my kid tbh.
People who say "I got the measles and I'm fine" are being laughed at and labeled as having "survivor's bias". But isn't it also survivor's bias if those people who got vaccinated didn't get serious problems and push for it but others have literally suffered irreversible complications?
Help me out. Thanks in advance. Please no insults. Parents who question Vax in my country are heavily criticised and disrespected. I'm just wanting to get answers.
