Can anyone tell me if this pupae looks dead? I found a helpless caterpillar on the street 22 days ago and decided to take it in. After research I was able to identify it as the moth shown in the pictures. I found out they need dirt for their transformation and after providing dirt the caterpillar immediately dug in. It’s been 22 days since then and nothing happened. Since I need to move houses today I decided to dig it up to see if it’s alive or if I failed. I included a picture of the pupae. I’m no expert so I can’t really tell if its dead or not. It’s smooth and shiny and feels quite heavy and cold. Thanks in advance!☺️
