My workplace sold my jacket. Can I do anything?

I work at a secondhand store, and I left my jacket, which was a bit expensive, in the employees' belongings box behind the counter. I didn't take it at the time, but when I came back to get it, I couldn't find it.

I asked my manager about it and he said he didn't know where it went, but apparently after a while they put anything left in that box out for sale. That doesn't seem right to me, because it was clearly owned by someone on the staff, and it hadn't been sitting there for a long time.

Edit: I checked my shifts and it turns out it was in the employees' box for six days. None of my coworkers had ever been told about a policy of getting rid of items, but my manager says that's probably what happened.

I applied to 53 jobs out of anger this morning. I started around 6 this morning and it took me about 9 hours.

This happened because I got a rejection that hurt more than usual. I had finally made it to a final, in-person interview and honestly felt like it was going well. The vibe was right, the company seemed strong, and the role was something I'd be good at while also genuinely helping them.
They chose someone else and said they didn't have any feedback when I asked for it. I was an "excellent candidate," and they "wished me the best moving forward."
