Hi all,

Might have my head under a rock and this may come off as stupid but why hasn't there been a push to standardise doctor pay rates from internship to fellowship (basically anything other than working as a specialist) in public hospitals across Australia? I get the healthcare systems are funded from state and federal funding but why not just standardise and make the pay rates the same for each level across the nation? Same penalty rates, standard rates, leave allowance, etc. I know cost of living varies state by state but would at least stop the premiers bickering and slinging shade at one another.
