I am down to 2 main options for getting my NREMT, and one of the schooling options has only 3 days left!
I am located near Atlanta, Georgia.
Georgia Institute of EMS
The first option, which my parents prefer, costs around $6500 ( a price they expect me to work up to being able to pay back half of after getting certified) , which to most people this price sounds more like a price for a paramedic program. This price makes sense because the program has training basically similar to a paramedic. This would be done at the Georgia Institute of EMS under the accelerated program to avoid not being able to finish on time before I go off to a college which is close to Atlanta. I will have to then take a paramedic program some years or months after to be certified as a paramedic as this is just a NORMAL entry NREMT preparation school.
Upsides:
Finish in only 6-8 weeks.
More training.
Downsides:
2x-3x the normal cost pricey.
Overtraining for just NREMT certification.
RC Health Services Nationwide EMS Academy
The second option, which has an unknown finish date is way cheaper as it costs around $2000, but it has way less training in comparison to the other option. The only issue is I am more likely to finish in 3-4 months compared to only 1-2 months. I also do not know whether this academy is legitimate or helpful as a local firefighter told me he NEVER HEARD OF IT. If this a legit way to get the NREMT, then I could schedule my own labs and ride alongs with the program based on my time as they have said giving me availability and more planning.
Upsides:
Cheaper.
Downsides:
Unknown Legitimacy.
Longer.
I do not know if the AMR EMT is a separate program or just an EWYL full time program, which i could not do as 36-40 hour job is not possible for met to handle right now.
Please respond as fast as possible. THANK YOU!
