Is it worth moving to Ireland for CS if I might have to restart from Year 1 or foundation?

I’m 21 and currently in my first year of a CS pathway (NCC Level 4). I’m thinking about continuing my studies in Ireland, but I might not get credit transfer, so I could end up restarting Year 1 or going through foundation.

Main things I’m wondering about:

  • Does restarting from Year 1/foundation affect your CS career in the long run?
  • Is it common for international students to start from foundation or Year 1?
  • How does the transition usually feel socially and academically?
  • Is the extra time worth it for better opportunities and exposure?

Any honest experiences or advice would really help.

Is studying CS in Ireland still worth it if I have to restart from Year 1/foundation?

I’m 21 years old and currently in my first year of a CS pathway (NCC Level 4) and considering moving to Ireland. But I might not get credit transfer, so I may need to restart Year 1 or go foundation.

Is it still worth it in the long run for CS careers?

Main concerns:

  • Does restarting affect job opportunities later?
  • Is foundation/Year 1 normal for international students?
  • How are CS jobs/internships in Ireland for internationals?
  • Is the networking + career outcome worth the extra year?

Trying to decide if Ireland is the right move long-term.
