Help me find nice
Hi everyone!
I’m planning a trip to Ruse, Bulgaria in august as a surprise for my boyfriend’s birthday, and I’m trying to build a full itinerary for us.
We’ll be staying in Ruse for a few days and also nearby (around Basarbovo/Rusenski Lom area). I already planned sightseeing, nature spots and some nice moments by the Danube, but I’d love to include local events and cultural experiences to make the trip extra special.
So I wanted to ask locals or anyone familiar with Ruse:
Are there any concerts, live music events, festivals or open-air shows happening during august? Any theatre performances, opera, or cultural evenings in that period? Do cafés or bars usually host live music nights in summer? Are there any workshops or traditional Bulgarian experiences (food, crafts, folklore, wine tasting, etc.) tourists can join? Any seasonal events on the Danube promenade or in the city center during August?
I know Ruse is not a huge city, but I’d love to discover anything local, authentic or even small-scale events that might not be easy to find online.
This trip is a surprise gift, so I’m trying to make it feel like a little story/experience rather than just sightseeing.
Any tips, posters, local pages, or insider recommendations would be amazing!
Thank you so much in advance 🙏🇧🇬
