Doing BBA from a government college - what should I learn to become job-ready?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently doing BBA from a government college in Patiala, Punjab, and I’m thinking seriously about my career after graduation.
My goal is to get a good job after BBA (or build skills that make me employable), but I’m confused about which courses or skills would actually be useful in today’s job market and in the next 4–5 years.
I’m open to learning practical skills alongside my degree and I’m also completely open to doing online courses, certifications, or offline training programs if they genuinely help with employability.
Some areas I’ve heard about:
Business/Data Analytics (Excel, Power BI, SQL)
Digital Marketing
Generative AI / AI tools
Financial Modeling / Finance certifications
Tally / GST
HR / Recruitment skills
My questions:
Which courses/skills would be best for a BBA student if the goal is getting a decent job after graduation?
Are there any beginner-friendly Generative AI courses worth doing for non-technical students?
What skills do companies actually value in BBA freshers?
Should I focus more on internships, certifications, LinkedIn networking, communication skills, or something else?
Any recommendations for affordable online courses or institutes (especially if anyone knows options around Patiala/Punjab)?
I’d really appreciate honest advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation or are working in hiring/corporate roles.
Thanks!
