NKD manaka x Berend de Boer
I just received a Kisuke Manaka bunka which was a blank sharpened by Berend de boer from knives world (meesterslijpers). I consider it my first grail knife. I did a knife sharpening class with him and I was joking he should have had the Manaka collab knives in stock. We then started talking and he said wait a minute and brought me to their storage room showing me his last blank (wish I had a picture of that). He then said I could have it after sharpening and he seemed to like to do a mirror polish on it.
After being quite in shock about the price and being scared about using a knive with a mirror polish. I have to say I am glad he did it. I find the knife absolutley stunning. Also it is surprisingly tall, taller than my santokus .
The handle is ebony with ferrule on top. Steel aogami 1 and the knife feels surprisingly nimble. I cant wait to try it out. If you have something you would like to know about the knife let me know.
