I recently found out I qualify for Canadian citizenship as an American any advice on applying or just in general?
For context my maternal grandmother was Canadian she moved to the U.S. well before she had my aunt and mom she died when my mom was a baby so I didn’t know anything about her until recently when I was talking to my aunt (my mom passed away a few years ago) due to politics in the U.S. and issues with how expensive it is to receive medical care even with insurance for health issues I’ve been dealing with since childhood I want to leave the U.S. now more than ever obviously I know about needing documentation to prove that my grandmother was Canadian and that she’s my actual grandmother through my mom but I have a few questions about different aspects of moving to Canada like costs of applying how long it takes if you’ve gone through the process and moving there with pets I currently live in Minnesota so the cold weather isn’t a big issue for me and I’m aware that I’ll still have to file U.S. taxes even if I live outside the U.S. please leave any advice about Canada in general too!!
