Passed PE Power First Attempt
Took the test on May 1(Fri) and got the pass results May 6 (Wed). First attempt. 330 hours over the course of 4 months. Jan. 1 - May 1.
I paid for Zack Stone's $1200 course. It was an easy decision because my work was willing to reimburse me for it. I'd argue that even without the reimbursement I would still be okay with spending that kind of money because I felt fairly confident that I would pass and I learned a lot about the industry which is what I wanted. I didn't just want to pass the test but gain knowledge and be ahead of my peers. You could possibly get by with just buying some paper material and passing the test.
My 2 cents. I believe that the PE was easier than the FE. The FE felt massive in scope and there was just too much to review and vague theory you are required to know. With the PE, my on the job experience definitely made parts of that test easier because I knew the answers without having to study. The PE is also leans more heavily towards qualitative questions. Biggest thing for the 1st half of the test is to get comfortable with the code books. ALWAYS be on the look out for the little tricks thrown into questions. (Zach's class does a good job of bringing this to light that maybe practice problems don't).
I flagged 24 total questions and of those totally guess on 8.
The PE exam is an investment in yourself. A successful attempt is contingent upon on your earnest consistency to study. I took 1 day off a week. 2 if I felt burnout.
