Running my first campaign- advice?

My GM experience so far consists of a plethora of Call of Cthulhu one shots as well as a “campaign“ made up of a string of scenarios (mainly those from the keeper screen) with some homebrew glue to get us from Blackwater Creek to the hunt for Sticky Jack. Now, I have three loyal players ready to dive head first into a full campaign.

The plan at present is to run through the new Westhaven campaign found in ”Campfire Tales” then, age the scout investigators up into adult investigators to take on A Time to Harvest.

Now, I just have a couple question/ requests for advice from the more experienced keepers here.

  1. I’m wondering if we should take on A Time to Harvest in normal rules or Pulp rules. All three of my players have been asked and all three are down for whatever. I’ve never ran pulp rules before, but I do slightly worry that we’ll spend literal years with the scout investigators (westhaven campaign takes place over 6 years) just for them to immediately get killed off when we enter A Time to Harvest. Would it be against the spirit of COC to actively try NOT to kill the investigators? Or is the only way to run in pulp?
  2. On top of this being my first full campaign(s) ran, this will also be my first time running call of Cthulhu virtually (one of our players lives in another state). Any words of wisdom on running digitally?
  3. Any specific recommendations for A Time to Harvest (or Campfire Tales)? Any advice from someone who’s ran either is greatly appreciated.

thank you all for taking the time to read through!
