Started at a safety MBA program. Is transferring to a stronger program realistic?
Due to some external circumstances, I had to apply to MBA programs very late this cycle and did not have enough time to properly prepare for the GMAT. I am an international applicant with an engineering undergraduate degree from a top 10 engineering school, but my GPA was negatively affected by the COVID-era transition and undiagnosed ADHD during much of my studies.
I do think I have a strong professional profile. I have about six years of experience across high-end engineering, B2B industrial business development, and North American market expansion. This cycle, I applied to several T30 MBA programs along with some safer options. I received interviews from UNC, Vanderbilt, and Duke, but unfortunately did not receive an acceptance.
Because I need to begin an MBA by Fall 2026, I have started a program at a school that I am not fully excited about. I am trying to think strategically about my options.
Can I transfer into a stronger MBA program in the second year if I improve my GMAT score and perform well academically?
Has anyone been in a similar situation before?
