I began publishing my zombie novel on Royal Road, so it's freely accessible. For now I'm not sharing the link here, I just want opinions on the illustrations. Should I introduce all the characters, or just focus on posting images of zombies and maps?
Sons of the Abyss is a classic LitRPG with elements of dungeons, stats, human reality, economy, politics, and adventure.
I'm not here to tell you that my novel is unique and the best in the genre — you, as a reader, will be the one to rate it. What I am here to tell you is what kind of story you won't find.
You won't find a super-powerful protagonist from level 1 who always knows what to do and never makes mistakes.
You won't find a story where nobody dies.
You won't find a story that's comfortable all the time, where despite the disaster there's still time to crack 7 jokes.
You won't find inconsistencies like: "I had 2 free hours, so that night I made 200 bombs and stuffed them in my pocket." Yeah, you know which book I'm talking about.
Sons of the Abyss is about a boy who arrives with no memories in a world full of creatures, with a huge abyss that's a dungeon spread across floors. The whole economy revolves around the abyss and what's pulled out of it — the politics too... Though at first our protagonist won't see any of that. He's worried about surviving with no money, no knowledge, no job, and no exceptional skills.
