I'm looking for a book about werewolves. The main character gets out of prison and gets a job at a nightclub that turns out to be owned by her mother, who put her in prison.
’m looking for a werewolf book where the protagonist is thrown into prison because of a text message from a friend saying "I'm here" or something similar. The friend was killed by rogue wolves. After getting out of prison, the protagonist gets a job at a nightclub as an cleaner—something like that. It turns out the club belongs to her mate, who had sent her to prison; the mate believed that she had lured the friend into a fatal ambush because of that message, and although the protagonist had been driving to find her friend but she got into an accident, all the evidence pointed to her guilt. When her mate discovered she was working there—after fate placed her in the VIP area to clean up a mess and unfortunately he was there—he humiliated her in front of everyone. He demanded a large sum of money in exchange for letting her go, handing her a bank card and ordering her to deposit the amount by a specific deadline. The protagonist endured many humiliations; during one final incident, she nearly drowned while trying to scrape together the remaining funds. However, because the final portion of the money was in the form of a check, her mate refused to honor their agreement. I recall an ultimatum: she could either go to the hospital (as she was in critical condition) or go to the bank to transfer the money to the card (her mate hoped she would choose the hospital). She chose the bank, only to be told it was closed and the deadline had passed; having lost the wager, she threw the check out the car window. I hope someone knows this book and can send me a link to it, because so far I’ve only read... I’m really curious about the ending and the resolution of the mystery surrounding the death of the main character's friend.
