IDEA VALIDATION: B2B creative marketplace for small business owners
I’m developing a UK-based platform called SEEQ and would love some honest feedback on the concept.
SEEQ is an app where businesses can discover, book and connect with creative talent: photographers, videographers, MUAs, models and UGC creators.
The concept is to make sourcing creatives easier, particularly for small/upcoming businesses that may not have the budget for agencies or the time to search across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.
Creatives would have profiles showing their:
- Availability: Available now / this weekend / later this month / unavailable
- Location: e.g. London
- Aesthetic/niche: e.g. boudoir, editorial, retro photography
- Portfolio
There would be two main ways to hire:
1. Discover & Book: Browse creatives and book them directly.
2. Post a Job: Businesses/Brands create a listing with their requirements, budget and timeframe, and creatives can apply with their portfolio automatically attached.
There would also be a Collabs section for unpaid opportunities. I know many upcoming brands don't have large budgets, while emerging creatives often need experience, portfolio content and connections. Businesses can therefore advertise unpaid collaborations for creatives who are actively looking for them.
Then there’s SEEQ Spaces: community group chats based around niches/interests, e.g. Bristol Models, Retro Photography, Cinematic Storytelling etc. The idea is to encourage networking, advice, collaboration and sharing opportunities, rather than SEEQ just being a transactional hiring platform.
For example:
- A jewellery brand needs a photographer for a launch
- A fashion brand needs models
- A restaurant needs a UGC creator
- A beauty brand needs an MUA
- A start up needs a videographer
The initial target is businesses of any industry, with creatives on the other side of the marketplace.
I’m still refining the concept, so I’d genuinely love honest feedback, criticism, potential issues, suggestions or things you think are missing.
I’m especially interested in whether you see a genuine need for something like this or whether existing platforms already solve the problem well enough and if they do...what's missing/could be done better?
Happy to answer any questions about how I envision it working or for extra clarification !
