Starting a company with little experience
Hello all, I have been interested in building decks for almost a year now, and I have a general construction background ( a year building pools) and I want to start my own buisness so I can own something and grow it myself. I’ve been thinking for a few days if it would make sense to do something like this or work toward this goal, since I haven’t built a deck before, and I came here to see if you guys think it’s possible to build a deck that is good quality with little experience like I have. If I do this I want to do it right, so should I wait and try to get a job in deck building and probably take a pay cut? Or should I just tunnel vision toward starting and do some practice of my own
Edit: thanks for all the replies! To clarify the reason I think this is possible is I recently joined a new company and they had started a few years back with 0 experience and has grown to be pretty successful. And I know 1 year isn’t a ton of experience but I’ve also worked in the auto industry for about a year, did machining for about a year and have a few years of sales/management experience, so I have general buisness/trade experience, just not with decks specifically. I’m not saying decks are easy but was wondering if it was possible with working hard and lots of learning. I think I’m going to start looking for decking jobs.
