[1 YoE, Undergraduate Student Researcher, Undergraduate Researcher Summer Internship, USA]
Hello, I’m currently an undergraduate rising junior at a small Georgia college majoring in Physics (technically under the physics/engineering dual degree path but idk if i want both). I’ve been doing material science research with the same professor since my freshman spring semester, where I’ve gotten a lot of experience, about 4-5 co-authorships in academic papers published in good academic journals, as well as presented my research at 4 school events, a state conference, and a national conference. I applied to a bunch of undergraduate summer internships research roles at places like NASA, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, UC Santa Barbara, private companies, etc. all across the US (willing to relocate for the summer either at my expense or company), but all I got was either rejections or ghosting. At every place I applied to that required it, I got a letter of recommendation from my professor, who himself worked at/went to school at some of these places. Right now my GPA really isn’t the best (mix of living over an hour away, ADHD and depression, and higher level math kicking my ass), so I’m really trying to rely on my current research experience and trying to get more to help even the playing field for me when applying to grad school and internships, but I’m getting nothing. Everyone around me is telling me that my current experience and co-authorships is really impressive for where I’m at, but I’m just getting nothing so I feel really lost and confused right now, so the first thing I’m looking at is my resume, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
