I always knew there's something up with him always being one release ahead of his teammates. Every time the other vizards fight in base, he's using shikai. When they use shikai — he goes Bankai. As soon as someone else beside him goes Bankai (Rose) — theirs is more dangerous by a mile. No one was agreeing with me when I noticed this, everybody was yapping about how it's just his style of fighting.
Now guess what happens in the cour 4? They give Kensei exclusive Bankai+Mask combo, so he can match his shikai+mask squadmates. And yall will still try to convince me it's just a coincidence.

This guy is intentionally written to be one release/power-up weaker than the other vizard captains.
